Disaster relief charity GlobalMedic is responding to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Currently 500,000 people, over a third of the population, lack access to running water. Children and their families have had extremely limited access to basic supplies and medical infrastructure for nearly one month.
GlobalMedic's Rapid Response Team (RRT) is responding to the crisis by establishing water distribution points in affected areas of Gaza. Each point will consist of water purification units and Aquatab water purification tablet distribution programs. The water purification units have the capacity to provide 1,000 civilians with clean drinking water everyday.
GlobalMedic's RRT is equipped with 50 water purification units which have a combined capacity to provide 50,000 civilians with clean drinking water everyday. The team is distributing 10 million Aquatabs; each tablet purifies 1 litre of water.
The RRT will also be distributing sachets of Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) to medical centres in the affected areas. GlobalMedic has donated 220,800 sachets of ORS to the crisis in Gaza.
